A Liebster Award – I’ve been nominated!

Hello everybody!

Today, I was nominated for a Liebster Award by Pascha at The Posh Blog. Thank you soo much Pascha!

Fleur de LiebsterI’m fairly new to the blogging community, so I took it upon myself to research the Liebster Award a bit before I began my post (even though it’s purpose may seem quite obvious). If you aren’t aware of what a Liebster Award is, it’s an award within the blogging community that’s given to other bloggers who have a certain amount of followers or less. This specific nomination states it’s to be given to those with 500 followers or less, but I’ve seen limits as low as those who have 200 and under. It’s a really good way to get to know newer bloggers out there and to have other bloggers get to know you! You post the Liebster Award in your new post (you can use the one you see here or Google one, which I did), and you can choose to add it to your page as a widget if you like. You can read a little more about the award if you’re interested to know more here.

The rules for this specific award are as follows:

Make a post about the Liebster Award & thank the blogger who nominated you

State 11 interesting facts about yourself

Answer the 11 questions asked by the blogger who nominated you

Nominate 11 new bloggers with 500 followers or less (make sure you tell them they’re nominated!)

Write 11 new questions for your nominees

11 Facts About Me:

1. I’m a mum! I have an amazing 9-year old daughter who is my world – I think this is a great time to mention this because I kind of like to keep my family life a little bit private. I had a bizarre incident happen to me where someone stole picture of her and I from my Myspace (yes, this was a LONG time ago) and used them as their own (crazy!)! So ever since then, I’ve been very careful about the things I put out when it comes to her. But I do love her dearly, she is the single most important person in my life.

2. I’m an Army wife – where my husband goes, we follow. After we married, my daughter and I packed up our lives on the east coast and moved to be with him half way across the country. This will happen every few years, and this year just happens to be that year for us. It’s tough, but that’s life in the military and we have to get used to it. Not for the faint of heart, that’s for sure!

3. I am OBSESSED with any and all things UK and Europe. When I say obsessed, that’s an understatement. I spend most of my days daydreaming about being there, it completely consumes me. I just think compared to the U.S. there is SO MUCH MORE to do and see, so much more culture, so much life, so much to learn and I won’t die happy unless I get there one day!

4. I’ve seen every episode of TOWIE (The Only Way is Essex – a British reality show) to this very day – I never miss an episode. I know it’s crap, but I can’t help what I love!

5. The origin of Koofa – if you’ve ever wondered what this is about, it’s a nickname started by my friend Jordan several years ago. My maiden name is Kufuor. One day, out of the blue, he shortened my name to Koof. Then he branched out to other variations like De Koof, Koofa, The Koof (he’s a comical person), and so on… it spread like wildfire and soon everybody started calling me variations of Koof or Koofa! I actually love it, so I’ve carried it with me throughout several social media platforms!

6. I’m a bit of a hypochondriac. I don’t know why or what brought it on, but I wasn’t always like this. One of my best friends is the exact same way, so I think it may have rubbed off on me. I’m always afraid something is wrong with me. Well, last year a blood clot was discovered in my brain. The first trip to the ER for the pain I was having, I was blown off and told it was the flu. If I hadn’t been a hypochondriac/paranoid about it and gone back the next day, who knows where I would be today. Everything is fine now, but as you can imagine, that doesn’t help my paranoia at all.

7. I have a horrid spending addiction. I can’t save money to save my life.

8. I’m VERY shy. I have been since I was young. Because of this I’m quite introverted and it’s very hard (much harder than it is for most people) to make new friends, which stinks because of the fact that we move around so much. I know it’s something that will never change, therefore I’m very blessed and thankful for the close friends that I do have. πŸ™‚

9. I love musicals and old classic movies. Doris Day movies, Gone With the Wind, The Sound of Music, Seven Brides to Seven Brothers… The film industry is just not what it once was. I wish we could go back to those times.

10. I HATE bugs and insects of all kinds! I don’t care if they’re beneficial to the earth, I want them away from me!

11. I would love to graduate college one day. I’ve been out of school for so long, I feel like I’ve lost brain cells and I’m scared to try again for fear that I’ll fail (this has happened before). I don’t know exactly what I want to do, but I hope I can figure it out soon.

11 Questions:

1. Why did you begin blogging? I began blogging a while ago, but really had nothing to say, so I quit. Last year I became fascinated with beauty and I recently realized that now I have something to write about. I always go to blogs for swatches and photos when I look for makeup products I’m interested in, or to learn about products I never knew about. I just wanted to be able to do the same for other people. Maybe I can help someone make a decision on a potential purchase – and there aren’t a large number beauty bloggers with my skin color, so I figured maybe in the swatch department I could be a bit of help to those who are, but of course my blog is for everyone! πŸ™‚

2. Favorite nail color? I honestly couldn’t say! Probably something in the pink department, I seem to flock to pink hues the most.

3. If money wasn’t an issue, what would most of your money be spent on? Well, even though it is an issue, I still find some way to spend it on makeup – if it wasn’t an issue, I would still more than likely be spending it on more makeup!

4. What’s your 9-5? At the moment, I’m a stay-at-home mom. Before I got married I worked for a very well-known company, and I’ll tell you those were the worst 5 and a half years of my life. I thought I would never be one of those people who wanted to stay at home, that I’d go crazy, but I swear working there ruined me and I never want to work again! Although I will be attempting to find a job once we move soon.

5. Do you collect anything? Ummm, does makeup count? Haha.

6. Last book you read? Well, this is sad. The last book I actually read was several years ago, probably 10 or more. I try to read my Bible, but that doesn’t happen nearly as often as it should. I attempted to read Orwell’s 1984 last summer (a dystopian novel, eerily spot-on to the days we’re living in now) and also The Marriage Trap, which I almost finished, but didn’t because I had to return it to my friend – I actually really liked that one.

7. Lipstick or lipgloss? Oooh, hard one, but I think if I absolutely had to choose it would be lipgloss and only because I need something moisturizing on my lips – I have a HUGE OCD when it comes to my lips being moisturized lol.

8. Do you have any tattoos? Yep, I have a big one on my forearm. It’s a broken heart with a knife through it and blood dripping down (gruesome, I know). I was going through a phase where I thought tattoos were so hot and I wanted fsomething that would always mean something to me – broken hearts are something that everyone goes through and at the time, I felt it was important to express that. Of course, I now regret it.

9. Are you in the USA or abroad? *sigh* USA. Does anyone in Europe want to adopt me? πŸ™‚

10. What is your favorite place to shop for makeup? Well, I guess it’s still Sephora, but as recent I’ve been branching out to other places.

11. What is a store you think should be shut down? Hmm, this is an interesting one. I don’t really know but I guess if I had to say, it would be Sears – it just doesn’t seem that popular and I’m quite surprised it’s actually still around (no offense!).

2. What’s the wildest thing you’ve ever done?

3. Do you have a bucket list and if so, can you name some of the things that are on it?

4. What’s your favorite season?

Zoya Polish Swatches

Hey, everybody! So as promised before, I’ve done some swatches of the Zoya polishes I’ve acquired recently. A few of them I won through their fashion week contests and a few of them I purchased myself. All of these colors are beautiful, but there are some I really take to more than others and that’s just my personal preference. I’m not a HUGE polish person. Though I love my nails painted, I HATE painting them and also hate how horrible the condition of my nails has gotten within the last few months. They used to be really long and healthy and I’d have to clip and file them down every few weeks because of the growth, but lately they’ve been really dry and a bit brittle. Does anyone else have this problem? I think it’s because I’ve been painting my nails more than usual, but how do girls keep them in such pristine condition? Even with base coats and top coats they still seem to degrade in quality after every wear. Let me know your secrets!

On to the swatches:

Zoya DovimaZoya Matte Velvet in Dovima – a matte black with silver shimmer I want to say? To me, it looks a lot like Zoya’s Claudine, but matte instead of shine. This is 2 coats of polish. This is the first and only matte polish I own and I can’t say I’m a huge fan, but that’s only my personal opinion. I don’t know, matte polishes just look like chalk boards to me and they make me cringe because I can’t help but to think about nails running down a chalkboard – just not my cup of tea. I’m a creamy, shiny polish person.

Zoya JacquelineJacqueline – Zoya describes this as a “full coverage, perfect magnolia nude cream. A light creamy beige with slight warm undertones and a glossy finish”. I would describe this as French vanilla. I love the color but it applied pretty streaky for me. This took 3 coats to make it opaque. Not full coverage in my opinion.

Zoya DahliaDahlia from Zoya’s PixieDust collection – Zoya describes this as a “black beauty with a sugared sparkle”. This is intensely sparkly (which I like) and gritty like sugar, but what I don’t like is trying to get it off! I avoid glittery polishes for this reason only, although I own quite a few because glitter is simply irresistible! I think it has a hold on many of us!

Zoya DemiDemi – Zoya describes this one as “a medium dusty mauve-purple creme with strong red undertones”. This took 2 coats to reach opacity and applied smoothly. To me this is a great color for fall.

Zoya PippaPippa – described as an “ultra-bright, sunny and cheerful medium lemon yellow creme”. This color reminds me of sunflowers and smiley faces! Not a color I would normally wear, but if you like bright colors, this would work for you. This color also applied streaky and took 3 coats to make opaque.

Zoya AveryAvery – “a full coverage blonde-beige cream”. This is a unique nude that reminds me of a beigy version of the Crayola crayon, Apricot (that’s the first thing that came to mind when applying this). This was pretty smooth to apply and took 2 coats.

Zoya Naturel Collection - BrigitteBrigitte – part of Zoya’s Naturel Collection. I’m in love with this collection! I’ve only gotten 2 of them so far (if only I were rich), but the 2 I got were the ones that appealed to me the most. Zoya describes Brigitte as a full coverage bombshell mauve cream. This color is just stunning, the pictures don’t do it justice at all. It applies like a dream, fully opaque with 2 coats.

Zoya Naturel Collection - NormaniThis is Normani – “a full-coverage, sable mauve cream”. It was hard to capture the mauviness of this in my photos, but this color to me is just so unique and rich. This one also applied like a dream – so creamy and nearly opaque with just 1 coat, but I applied 2 just to be safe.

Zoya SailorLast but not least is Sailor – “a classic dark navy cream”. This to me is kind of a muted navy color – hard for me to explain, but not truly as navy as navy usually is. And I love that because I wanted something that was just a tad bit toned down and not as dark and bold. This was very creamy and smooth to apply, again, almost fully opaque with 1 coat, but I’ve done 2 just to be on the safe side.

Have you tried out any of these colors? What are your current favorite polishes at the moment?

Happy First Day of Spring! + a Spring Nail Look

Ahhh, the first day of spring is finally here! Although I know that probably most of the country isn’t really feelin’ the spring time weather yet, it’s here and you can’t deny the feeling is in the air. We’ve had a bit of a long winter, but I know it’s going to warm up soon because there is no other choice but to! Being in Colorado, I don’t get to experience the spring that I’m used to. Spring to me is the sun shining down, GREEN, green grass (something you definitely don’t see out here with the dry climate), the sights and smells of colorful flowers blossoming everywhere and birds & bees buzzing throughout the air! Spring to me, is this:

Cherry Blossoms - Winterthur, DelawareThis is Winterthur Museum and Gardens in Delaware – former home of Henry Francis du Pont. The gardens and land are free to walk (after you’ve paid admission or acquired a membership) and it is simply one of the most gorgeous, immaculate, serene places to be in the spring and summer. This is probably my favorite place to be in the spring time, ever. There are so many gorgeous sights and scenes here! With benches available in several places, you can choose to sit and read a book or just to sit and admire the absolute beauty and wonder of this place. I’ve been spoiled by it and my heart aches a little because I won’t be able to see the true beauty of spring this year. *sigh*

Alright, alright, enough daydreaming! I’ve done my nails for the first time in a bit because I feel so spring-y today! I’ve chosen pink and purple because those colors remind me of the spring flowers that I’ll be missing out on (sad face). Hey, I have to live out my daydreams somehow! This is a light glitter gradient look I tried, using Essie’s French Affair which is a pale pink cream (both coats applied very smoothly) and Sephora by OPI Sugar Plum Fairies Gone Wild (love that name!), which is a glitter polish that consists of a chunky lilac/bluish, holographic glitter and a fine lilac glitter.

What do you think about this look? Are you excited for the spring season to come?

Sephora + Pantone Universe Rush Luster Cheek Sweep & Venus Lure Lip Balm Review + Swatches

Just a quick word before my review, I want to thank EVERY one of you who is currently following me right now. I’m really hoping to make this blog work and to help bring some input into the beauty blogging community. I don’t know how likely that is with the thousands of us that are already out there, but I want to at least give it a shot and I really, REALLY appreciate your support! I’ve changed my blog name just because I feel if this ever does jump off (knock on wood), I don’t know that I would’ve been completely satisfied with my previous title or not. I’m an extremely (can’t stress that enough) indecisive person, so I HOPE this will be the last time, because I feel content with the title I’ve chosen now. Anyway, thank you all again & I really do hope you’ll stay with me throughout my journey! πŸ™‚

So as I’m sure most of you know, Radiant Orchid is Pantone’s color of the year. I, for one, am absolutely loving it but I didn’t realize just how much until Sephora released their Radiant Orchid collection this week! This whole collection is, for lack of a better word, radiant! You can check it out here, at sephora.com. I wasn’t completely obsessed with makeup when last year’s color, Emerald, was announced, so that collection didn’t appeal to me as much. If you check Sephora’s website in the sale section (which I stalk several times a day) they still have some of last year’s Emerald products available. I was tempted to buy later on in the year as my makeup obsession grew, but I resisted because there were too many other things that I wanted way more and I don’t think I would ever wear green or blue eyeshadows in public. I’m just not at that level yet.

This year’s Radiant Orchid is vibrant, bright and beautiful – perfect for spring time and not just because of the name. I’d love to get my hands on The Eye: Radiant Femme Artistry Set and The Face: Radiant Femme Artistry Set but those things will just have to wait until my budget allows (sad face). I did manage to get my hands on the Rush Luster Cheek Sweep, which is a gorgeous and extremely (I mean it, use caution!) pigmented Radiant Orchid blush with two luminizers, one in what they have listed on their site as Rose Gold (on the palette, it’s named Spanish Villa) and one listed on the site as Iridescent Pink (Bridal Rose). Both the luminizers are on the shimmery/borderline sparkly side, so if you don’t want to look like a disco queen, you’ll want to use a light hand. The blush has a shimmer too it as well just so you are aware, but it’s not disco queen-y like the luminizers. Everything in this palette picks up VERY easily, so again, proceed with caution and use a light hand! I learned this the hard way, so the photo below shows me wearing way more blush than I personally would feel comfortable wearing in public, but at least you’ll get an idea of how the color appears on skin. Overall, I’m very happy I bought this, as I don’t have any blushes that are this color! Definitely a keeper!

Now the Venus Lure Lip Balm on the other hand, didn’t really tickle my fancy as much. I had my mind made up to get this because I knew it wouldn’t be as bold as the Radiant Rush Matte Lipstick from the collection, which I felt would probably be too bright for my liking. I did swatch the lipstick at the store today and I loved the color, but just don’t know if I would’ve had the guts to wear it. Well, I’m kind of wishing I would’ve gone with that instead of the balm. The balm has a nice peppermint scent to it and is VERY sheer – a little more sheer than I’d like. It’s hard to tell how these things are going to turn out on you until you actually try them on your lips. The swatch below I think was about 12 swipes total (not back and forth), so you can see it really takes a lot to build up. I was hoping it would be a little more pigmented on my lips because of my pigmentation and discoloration. I can’t remember how many times I had to swipe it to get it to build up to the color it was on my lips in the picture below, but it was quite a few. If your lips aren’t as pigmented as mine, I’m sure this would work a LOT better for you! I also don’t like the moisturizing feeling of this. Now I have severe issues when it comes to lip balm/chapstick. I’ve been addicted to it pretty much since the womb (thanks, mom & Bonne Bell) so I have certain kinds that I KNOW will work for me and certain kinds that drive me INSANE and I feel like they’re kind of just there to make my lips slip & slide around or that they’re actually drying out my lips rather than keeping them moist. The feeling of this balm to me is like that of Palmer’s Cocoa Butter – the actual cocoa butter, not the chapstick. For me, this just doesn’t work at all and the feeling of it on my lips literally drives me insane, so I think this will be going back. The color does last longer than the moisturization, but for me, that doesn’t really matter. I’m sad it didn’t work out for me but if I had known it was going to be that texture, I could’ve avoided that altogether.

FOTD with Charlotte Tilbury

Today I tried out an eye look with my Charlotte Tilbury Dolce Vita quad. Now I’m not experienced AT ALL with applying eyeshadow. I’m still practicing so this is far from perfect, but I think it’s quite decent compared to some of the looks I’ve tried in the past (see ‘horrendous’ in the dictionary). I’ve written a previous post with swatches of her shadows that you can check out below.

I used the Prime color on my inner half of the eyelid and inner corner, Pop on the other half of the lid and Smoke for the outer V. The color pop didn’t go on as easily as I would have liked, it was kind of gritty with some glittery fallout, unfortunately. Still a beautiful color. Maybe I’ll try it wet next time.

I used the Colour Chameleon eyeshadow pencil in Dark Pearl to outline my top and bottom lash line – it blends in with the rest of the shadows since it’s brown, so it’s kind of hard to spot but it is a gorgeous, gorgeous color.

Cheek to Chic Swish & Pop Blusher in Ecstasy I applied on my cheeks, with the swish color lightly applied to my cheekbones and pop applied to the apple of my cheeks.

I lightly applied a couple strokes of Charlotte’s Bar of Gold just above my blush.

I paired Charlotte’s Lip Lustre gloss in Seduction on top of my Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in Touchable Taupe.

Foundation: Revlon Nearly Naked in Warm Beige & Sonia Kashuk Radiant Tinted Moisturizer in Honey
Mascara: Guerlain Cils D’enfer Maxi Lash (my favorite mascara thus far)
Brows: Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade in Ebony

Thanks for checking this out and hope you enjoy!

Maybelline Color Sensational The Buffs Lip Color

A couple of weeks ago I stumbled upon these online and HAD to try some. For only $5.50 a piece (not including the coupons I had), I couldn’t go wrong.

I purchased four of these in the colors Sin-A-Mon (935), Touchable Taupe (940), Stormy Sahara (945) and Untainted Spice (950). I have to say I absolutely LOVE every color and it’s hard for me to pick a favorite.. I’m so into nudes and neutrals right now and every color I bought is wearable (yay, no returns!).

Sin-A-Mon on my lips is like a light beige-y taupe-y color and actually reminds me a lot of my NYX Round Lipstick in Rea, but not nearly as matte or bold. Touchable Taupe might be my favorite out of all of them, a creamy light chocolatey color (I’m horrible with descriptions, can you tell?) that I think goes amazing with my skin tone. Stormy Sahara is definitely a pink-toned sandy nude and in my opinion doesn’t seem to go on quite as smooth as the rest, but nonetheless is still wearable and beautiful. Last but not least is Untainted Spice which is kind of like a chocolate brown with a slight hint of plummy red. It goes on quite glossy which I really like and I really love this color too.

I can’t say I’ve ever really worn Maybelline lipstick before, but I really, really like these and hope they’ll be sticking around for a while. There’s a large variety to choose from (10 in all), so there shouldn’t be much trouble finding the perfect shade for you!

Thank you, Zoya!

So this isn’t much of a post because I haven’t gotten a chance to try any of these polishes out yet, but I just wanted to mention how sweet Zoya is. Within the past two weeks I won TWO of Zoya’s fashion week contests. During fashion week they had a contest just about every day – I think even more than one on a couple of those days – and I entered about 3 or 4 of them. Not long after, I received a message from them on Facebook telling me that I won one! I was super stoked because even though it’s just nail polish, I never win ANYTHING. Except for ONE time like 10 years ago when I entered these contests online at the WB.com (back before it was The CW) and won One Tree Hill the first season twice – I think that I seriously had to have been the only person who entered them because it didn’t make any sense to me how I could win two. Anywho, enough rambling. After I found out I won, I didn’t enter any more of the contests. Well about a week later, I got a message on Twitter from them telling me that I won yet again! I couldn’t believe it.. because like I said, this NEVER happens. So now I’ve won twice? Well the second contest I won I believe had already passed so I think perhaps one of the winners never claimed their prize or something and I happened to be the lucky chosen one. I felt a bit guilty though because I had already won one – I told them so, but they insisted it was okay, so I said what the heck.. probably the only time this will ever happen!

This week I received both of my prizes. The first one was a trio containing the colors Dovima (my first matte polish), Jacqueline and Dahlia. The second was the Rolando Santana trio which contains the colors Demi, Pippa and Avery. All these colors are gorgeous, but I’m most excited for Jacqueline because I’ve been wanting to try her out for a little while now. Swatches coming soon!

Charlotte Tilbury Review/Swatches

Better late than never, right? So I finally set up my vanity yesterday (kind of pointless since I’m moving soon, but whatevs) and finally took some pictures of the Charlotte Tilbury products I ordered. I can’t comment on longevity and wear because I haven’t worn any of them yet, I’ve only swatched them for you :). Let’s get to it.

First up is Charlotte Tilbury’s Lip Lustre Luxe Colour-Lasting Lip Lacquer. I got two of these in the colors Sweet Stiletto and Seduction.

These are my natural lips for comparison.

Image

Sweet Stiletto – I would describe this as a pale Carnation pink – I love the color because I’m into lighter/natural colors and nudes right now, so this is perfect for me.

Image

Seduction – this is a nude beige-y color. I really like this color as well & plan on pairing it with some of my nude lipsticks! I know it’ll go perfect with them. These lacquers are pretty thick so I’d like to see how they perform when I actually wear them out.

Next up is the K.I.S.S.I.N.G Fallen From The Lipstick Tree lipstick in Coachella Coral – this was pretty much the darkest color Net-a-porter had.. I think the rest were nudes and I think they would’ve been too light for my skin tone. I kind of wanted to try them but didn’t want to take any chances.

(No lip liner) – I like this color a lot compared to other corals I’ve tried lately. I’ve been wanting a coral for spring/summer anyway and the past couple I’ve bought were WAY too bright on me. I looked like a freaking clown! This one is bright but not overpoweringly so, so I think it just might be my perfect summery match. πŸ˜‰ I’m so happy it worked out for me because I was a bit worried after trying the others.

Next, my Colour Chameleon Colour Morphing Eye Shadow Pencils. I originally only purchased two of these but when I had to re-order my broken Bar of Gold, I snagged another one 😑 (naughty me). I got these in Dark Pearl (for brown eyes), Smoky Emerald (for hazel eyes – my FAVE!) and Amethyst Aphrodisiac (for green eyes). These are eye shadow pencils. The Amethyst is a plummy shimmery purple – I personally tend to sway towards purples like.. all the time. Ever since I started being able to somewhat do my eyeshadow in a way where I can actually walk out in public with it, I feel like it’s one of the only colors that actually looks good on me. Or at least the only one I’m able to work with for some reason. The Dark Pearl is a gorgeous beige-y, taupe-y, shimmery brown. I LOVE this color, I just hope it shows up on my eyes like it does on my arm. To me, it’s very unique. The Smoky Emerald is a very deep, shimmery green. I don’t have any green eye products so I decided to get this one. I love this color as well, I just think it’s super dazzly and rich. Just absolutely beautiful. Like I said I haven’t actually worn them yet but I will say that they glided (I don’t know why I wanted to write glid) on with extreme ease when I swatched them and they were kind of hard to wash off afterward. I don’t think they’ll let me down when put to the test, the staying power already seems to be up to par.

The quad I’ve been eyeing forever was the Dolce Vita Luxury Palette. The colors just look sooo rich and elegant and I absolutely had to have it! Now, in these quads, none of the colors have names – they’re all color-coded according to Charlotte Tilbury. The top left corner is prime, the top right corner is enhance, the bottom left corner is pop and the bottom right is smoke. She has the written tutorial here.

In order – Prime, Enhance, Pop and Smoke. I absolutely love the Pop color. It’s like a orange/gold, glitter/shimmer shade and looking at it while in the quad, it looks like it would be very gritty and not pick up smoothly at all, but that wasn’t the case, at least on my swatch. It wasn’t complete melty butter, it actually swatched a bit patchy, but it did go on smoother than expected. I’ll be interested to see how this one performs on the lid, but this is my favorite color of the four. The other 3 swatched and went on smoothly as well, a little more so than Pop.

The Cheek to Chic Swish & Pop Blusher I ordered was in the color Ecstasy. In the compact the outer looks like a beige-y, peachy color and the inner, a sort of pinky Carnation pink. When swatched, the outer is a pretty true peach and the inner was pretty much as it looks, a Carnation pink with maybe a tiny, tiny hint of peach. Charlotte also has a method for this one, Swish (the outer shade) is meant to be applied to the cheek bone starting from the apple of the cheek and Pop (the inner) is meant to be applied to the apples of the cheek to make them “pop” and glow. This blush does have a bit of shimmer, but it’s definitely not overpowering. I’m not a person that likes glittery facial products at all and I can safely say this is not glittery, but has the perfect amount of shimmer in it. It’ll be perfect for summer days, I love peachy pinks that glisten and glow in the sun πŸ™‚

Last, but not least is Charlotte Tilbury’s Bar of Gold Skin Gilding Highlighter. Honestly, the main reason I bought this is because I just love the way it looks! I’ve never seen anything like it, it’s just so darn cute! I mean, who doesn’t want a bar of gold sitting in their makeup drawer?! Anyway, this highlighter is just that – a highlighter. It is a bit glittery, but it’s very fine – it may not be for everyone, but I’m sure I’ll use it, it’s not overpowering to me.

Not the greatest swatch again, sorry. It is a bit heavy, but I wanted to try to get the amount of shimmer in it.

So there you have it. I’ve just popped my swatch cherry and it couldn’t have been done with a better makeup guru than Charlotte Tilbury. By the way, have you seen her Bardot tutorial with Millie Mackintosh (from Made in Chelsea)? It is absolutely to DIE for. I’m in love with the entire look and I so wish I had the skills to re-create it.

Blog Change + Net-a-porter & Charlotte Tilbury

It’s been a long time again. I’ve been wanting to start blogging about makeup. I’ve been thinking about it quite often, but haven’t brought myself to do so yet. I think we need more beauty bloggers of color – because whenever I search for reviews/swatches, they’re almost never on someone of my skin tone, so it makes it a bit hard to figure out what it’ll look like on me. I wonder if other girls have this issue as well, so I’d like to start doing that soon! I’m no expert by any means, but if I can post looks and swatches with the makeup I have and buy, it might do somebody some good.

With that said, I’m so excited for my biggest (or most expensive) ever haul yet! I finally scooped up some Charlotte Tilbury makeup! I’ve been literally dreaming about her makeup for months. Net-a-porter was offering free international shipping (I couldn’t bring myself to pay Β£25 which is a whole ‘nother product that could be bought) so I took advantage of that pretty much the second I got that e-mail. It took me a few hours to decide what exactly I was going to get, but I finally settled upon a few lovely products. They didn’t have the exact blush & lip colours I wanted so I had to settle for different ones, but I know they’ll work out perfectly. Maybe once she starts shipping internationally through her site (depending on the cost), I’ll be able to pick up some more. I’ve also been eyeing a couple of her brushes, but I’m not willing to buy a whole set right now. I took a few pictures of the packaging (so cute!) and will have more to come once I purchase my vanity & get that all set up, hopefully this weekend. My package literally only took TWO days to get here from the UK (take THAT, Sephora!). I ordered it on Monday and it WOULD have gotten here Wednesday, but I wasn’t home to sign for it so I had to wait a WHOLE EXTRA excruciatingly, painfully long day. When I received my package it was so cutely & efficiently packed. It came in a sleek black Net-a-porter box (they even sent a complimentary tape measure! I get excited about the most ridiculous things) with black tissue paper and all the products inside a zip-locked bubble wrap package. The only downfall is that my Bar of Gold came crumbled to bits. 😦 I e-mailed them pretty much immediately, so I hope it’ll be able to get resolved quickly & efficiently. I’ve read a few nightmare stories about their customer service, so I hope it goes smoothly. Anyway, here are the teaser pictures and I’ll have more to come (hopefully with swatches and looks) soon!
