Charlotte Tilbury Review/Swatches

Better late than never, right? So I finally set up my vanity yesterday (kind of pointless since I’m moving soon, but whatevs) and finally took some pictures of the Charlotte Tilbury products I ordered. I can’t comment on longevity and wear because I haven’t worn any of them yet, I’ve only swatched them for you :). Let’s get to it.

First up is Charlotte Tilbury’s Lip Lustre Luxe Colour-Lasting Lip Lacquer. I got two of these in the colors Sweet Stiletto and Seduction.

These are my natural lips for comparison.

Sweet Stiletto – I would describe this as a pale Carnation pink – I love the color because I’m into lighter/natural colors and nudes right now, so this is perfect for me.

Image

Seduction – this is a nude beige-y color. I really like this color as well & plan on pairing it with some of my nude lipsticks! I know it’ll go perfect with them. These lacquers are pretty thick so I’d like to see how they perform when I actually wear them out.

Next up is the K.I.S.S.I.N.G Fallen From The Lipstick Tree lipstick in Coachella Coral – this was pretty much the darkest color Net-a-porter had.. I think the rest were nudes and I think they would’ve been too light for my skin tone. I kind of wanted to try them but didn’t want to take any chances.

(No lip liner) – I like this color a lot compared to other corals I’ve tried lately. I’ve been wanting a coral for spring/summer anyway and the past couple I’ve bought were WAY too bright on me. I looked like a freaking clown! This one is bright but not overpoweringly so, so I think it just might be my perfect summery match. 😉 I’m so happy it worked out for me because I was a bit worried after trying the others.

Next, my Colour Chameleon Colour Morphing Eye Shadow Pencils. I originally only purchased two of these but when I had to re-order my broken Bar of Gold, I snagged another one 😡 (naughty me). I got these in Dark Pearl (for brown eyes), Smoky Emerald (for hazel eyes – my FAVE!) and Amethyst Aphrodisiac (for green eyes). These are eye shadow pencils. The Amethyst is a plummy shimmery purple – I personally tend to sway towards purples like.. all the time. Ever since I started being able to somewhat do my eyeshadow in a way where I can actually walk out in public with it, I feel like it’s one of the only colors that actually looks good on me. Or at least the only one I’m able to work with for some reason. The Dark Pearl is a gorgeous beige-y, taupe-y, shimmery brown. I LOVE this color, I just hope it shows up on my eyes like it does on my arm. To me, it’s very unique. The Smoky Emerald is a very deep, shimmery green. I don’t have any green eye products so I decided to get this one. I love this color as well, I just think it’s super dazzly and rich. Just absolutely beautiful. Like I said I haven’t actually worn them yet but I will say that they glided (I don’t know why I wanted to write glid) on with extreme ease when I swatched them and they were kind of hard to wash off afterward. I don’t think they’ll let me down when put to the test, the staying power already seems to be up to par.

The quad I’ve been eyeing forever was the Dolce Vita Luxury Palette. The colors just look sooo rich and elegant and I absolutely had to have it! Now, in these quads, none of the colors have names – they’re all color-coded according to Charlotte Tilbury. The top left corner is prime, the top right corner is enhance, the bottom left corner is pop and the bottom right is smoke. She has the written tutorial here.

In order – Prime, Enhance, Pop and Smoke. I absolutely love the Pop color. It’s like a orange/gold, glitter/shimmer shade and looking at it while in the quad, it looks like it would be very gritty and not pick up smoothly at all, but that wasn’t the case, at least on my swatch. It wasn’t complete melty butter, it actually swatched a bit patchy, but it did go on smoother than expected. I’ll be interested to see how this one performs on the lid, but this is my favorite color of the four. The other 3 swatched and went on smoothly as well, a little more so than Pop.

The Cheek to Chic Swish & Pop Blusher I ordered was in the color Ecstasy. In the compact the outer looks like a beige-y, peachy color and the inner, a sort of pinky Carnation pink. When swatched, the outer is a pretty true peach and the inner was pretty much as it looks, a Carnation pink with maybe a tiny, tiny hint of peach. Charlotte also has a method for this one, Swish (the outer shade) is meant to be applied to the cheek bone starting from the apple of the cheek and Pop (the inner) is meant to be applied to the apples of the cheek to make them “pop” and glow. This blush does have a bit of shimmer, but it’s definitely not overpowering. I’m not a person that likes glittery facial products at all and I can safely say this is not glittery, but has the perfect amount of shimmer in it. It’ll be perfect for summer days, I love peachy pinks that glisten and glow in the sun 🙂

Last, but not least is Charlotte Tilbury’s Bar of Gold Skin Gilding Highlighter. Honestly, the main reason I bought this is because I just love the way it looks! I’ve never seen anything like it, it’s just so darn cute! I mean, who doesn’t want a bar of gold sitting in their makeup drawer?! Anyway, this highlighter is just that – a highlighter. It is a bit glittery, but it’s very fine – it may not be for everyone, but I’m sure I’ll use it, it’s not overpowering to me.

Not the greatest swatch again, sorry. It is a bit heavy, but I wanted to try to get the amount of shimmer in it.

So there you have it. I’ve just popped my swatch cherry and it couldn’t have been done with a better makeup guru than Charlotte Tilbury. By the way, have you seen her Bardot tutorial with Millie Mackintosh (from Made in Chelsea)? It is absolutely to DIE for. I’m in love with the entire look and I so wish I had the skills to re-create it.

    • I ordered my products from Net-a-porter when they had a free shipping special. You can order them from there, they ship internationally and Selfridge’s ships internationally as well!
